KLB Greener Grounds Grant 2025-2026
This grant provides financial support to municipalities, parishes, and nonprofit organizations in Louisiana to implement waste reduction and recycling strategies at large outdoor events with over 1,000 attendees.
Description
The Greener Grounds Grant, administered by Keep Louisiana Beautiful (KLB), supports large-scale outdoor events across Louisiana in implementing waste reduction, recycling, and litter prevention strategies. With Louisiana hosting over 400 public festivals and cultural events annually, this grant helps event organizers adopt environmentally responsible practices that protect the state’s ecosystems, waterways, and communities. The 2025–2026 application cycle is currently open and will close on June 20, 2025.
This reimbursement grant is available to municipalities, parishes, and nonprofit organizations that organize outdoor events in Louisiana with at least 1,000 attendees per day. Events must be held after the execution of the Grant Agreement and completed before the final reporting deadline of May 31, 2026. Eligible applicants must be in good standing with the Louisiana Secretary of State, registered as a State Certified Vendor, and submit a W-9 form. For nonprofits, an IRS Determination Letter is required.
Funding amounts are capped at $10,000 for events with 3,000+ daily attendees and $5,000 for events with 1,000+ daily attendees, with a minimum 15% match required (cash, in-kind, or volunteer hours). The grant supports specific costs such as trash and recycling bins, signage, volunteer t-shirts and water, litter education, and supplies. It does not cover large container rentals, for-profit labor, or waste tipping and transport fees.
To be eligible for reimbursement, grantees must complete several programmatic requirements, including participation in a mandatory webinar, reviewing the Greener Grounds Guidebook and Workbook, establishing Waste Stations, and ensuring full committee participation in the workbook’s completion. Grantees must also engage in public communications through social media, press releases, and acknowledgment letters to state officials.
Documentation required in the Final Report, due by May 31, 2026, includes: completed workbook, receipts, before/after photos, media samples, and reporting on the project's waste reduction impact. In addition, grantees must register for and report on a Love the Boot Week event, tentatively scheduled for April 2026.
