Description
The Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) offers the *Recruitment of Rising Stars (RRS)* award to attract promising early-career cancer researchers to Texas institutions. The program provides up to $4 million over five years to recruit outstanding candidates demonstrating innovation and the potential for significant contributions to cancer research. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis from June 21, 2024, to June 20, 2025.
Eligible institutions include Texas-based nonprofit academic and research institutions. Candidates must hold a doctoral degree (e.g., MD, PhD) and be at an assistant or associate professor level or equivalent outside Texas at the time of nomination. Nominating institutions must contribute 50% of the requested CPRIT funding as a match and demonstrate strong institutional support, including salary and research resources.
Applications must be submitted by a senior official at the institution, such as the president or provost, and include detailed information on the nominee’s research, institutional support, and anticipated impact. Review criteria emphasize the candidate's scientific merit, alignment with CPRIT’s cancer research priorities, and institutional resources to support their success. Final decisions are made by the CPRIT Oversight Committee based on recommendations from the Scientific Review Council.
