This scholarship provides $5,000 to outstanding graduate students in marine science or conservation who demonstrate academic excellence and a commitment to marine conservation efforts.

The Next Swell Scholarship is designed to support exceptional students pursuing graduate-level education in marine science or marine conservation. This merit-based scholarship program awards multiple scholarships of $5,000 each for the 2025-2026 academic year. The program aims to recognize and assist students who exhibit a strong passion for marine conservation and demonstrate academic excellence in their field of study.

To be eligible, applicants must be either a U.S. citizen or a Legal Permanent Resident. The scholarship is open exclusively to graduate students pursuing either a Master’s or PhD degree. Additionally, applicants must maintain a minimum graduate GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale. Proof of attendance, such as an academic transcript, is required. If an applicant is entering their first semester of graduate school in Fall 2025, proof of acceptance to the program will be necessary.

Scholarship funds awarded through The Next Swell must be used solely for tuition, fees, or course materials such as books and supplies that are required for enrollment at the recipient’s educational institution.
