Description
The Partnerships for Success Grants, offered by the Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky, aim to support grassroots organizations in preventing alcohol, tobacco, and marijuana use/misuse in Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities throughout Kentucky. These grants focus on addressing behavioral health challenges through culturally responsive, equitable, and inclusive prevention initiatives. Grants of up to $50,000 are available, with a 12-month funding period ending on December 31, 2025. Applications must be submitted by January 3, 2025.
This funding opportunity emphasizes empowering BIPOC communities by ensuring that proposed projects place them at the center of leadership, decision-making, and direct benefit. Projects should aim to reduce substance use challenges or address underlying inequities identified by the community. Eligible initiatives may include planning, developing, implementing, or sustaining prevention efforts that are trauma-informed and evidence-based.
To qualify, applicants must be BIPOC-led and BIPOC-serving organizations providing services within Kentucky. Agencies currently receiving Partnerships for Success funding are ineligible to apply. Awardees will be required to participate in quarterly meetings to share their progress, collaborate with other grantees, and engage in evaluation and professional development activities.
Competitive proposals will demonstrate authentic engagement with BIPOC communities, including clear leadership and decision-making roles. They must outline feasible goals aligned with the Partnerships for Success program’s objectives, focusing on improving behavioral health outcomes by reducing risk factors and increasing protective factors. Proposals should also showcase the organization’s capacity to achieve its objectives within the provided timeline, budget, and staffing constraints.
Certain expenses are not eligible for funding under federal guidelines, including promotional commodities like t-shirts and pens. Food expenses are generally unallowable unless integral to the project. Projects employing scare tactics will not be approved.
Applications and inquiries should be directed to Heather Bruner, Grants Coordinator, at hbruner@healthy-ky.org. Interested organizations are encouraged to download the application form and submit completed proposals by the deadline. For more information, visit the Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky’s website.
