FY24 Texas Clean School Bus Program (TCSB)
This program provides funding to Texas public school districts and open-enrollment charter schools to replace or retrofit older diesel school buses, reducing children's exposure to harmful diesel exhaust.
Description
The Texas Clean School Bus (TCSB) Program aims to reduce school children's exposure to diesel exhaust from school buses by funding projects that replace or retrofit older diesel-fueled school buses. Eligible applicants include public school districts and open-enrollment charter schools in Texas. Projects may involve replacing pre-2007 diesel school buses with newer models or installing retrofit systems on existing buses. The program opens for applications on February 14, 2024, and closes on October 14, 2024. The grant covers up to 80% of the costs for replacement projects and up to 100% for retrofit projects. The request for reimbursement deadline is April 30, 2026.
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) administers this grant under the Texas Emissions Reduction Plan (TERP). Funding is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis until funds are exhausted. Applications must be submitted via electronic mail, secure file transfer, or mail by the deadline. Detailed instructions and application forms are available on the TERP website.
