RFA P-25.2-CSD Cancer Screening and Early Detection
This funding opportunity supports Texas-based organizations in providing essential cancer screening and early detection services to underserved populations, focusing on improving access to preventive healthcare.
Description
The Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) is inviting applications for the Cancer Screening and Early Detection (CSD) awards, which aim to fund evidence-based cancer screening services across Texas. The program targets populations with limited access to preventive healthcare and focuses on early detection of cancers like breast, cervical, colorectal, liver, and lung cancer. The total project funding varies, with new projects capped at $1.5 million over three years, initial expansions at $2 million, and maintenance expansions at $2.5 million over five years.
Eligible applicants include Texas-based entities such as community organizations, healthcare institutions, and universities, which must deliver services in nonmetropolitan or medically underserved regions. The awards cover a wide range of project activities, including clinical services, navigation into diagnostic follow-ups, and training programs for both the public and healthcare providers. Applications must outline measurable project goals and objectives, a sustainable service delivery model, and a plan for assessing health outcomes.
Applicants are required to submit their proposals through the CPRIT Application Receipt System (CARS) by December 5, 2024. CPRIT emphasizes collaboration with local organizations to expand reach and effectiveness, and awardees are expected to report quarterly on service delivery and outcomes. The program encourages partnerships with healthcare providers and offers up to 5% of funds for indirect costs, excluding construction or renovation expenses.
