Description
The Flood Mitigation Program, established under Act 13 of 2012, aims to provide financial assistance for flood mitigation projects in Pennsylvania. The program allocates funds to municipalities, councils of governments, authorized organizations, institutions of higher education, watershed organizations, and for-profit businesses for projects that help mitigate flood risks. Eligible projects include land acquisition, engineering studies, construction and improvement of flood control projects, and debris removal. Grants are available for projects with a total cost of $50,000 or more, and applicants must provide a 15% cash match. The program supports projects authorized by relevant flood protection authorities, such as the PA Department of Environmental Protection, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, or identified by local governments.
