Innovative Research to Advance Racial Equity
This funding opportunity supports research projects that investigate and address the root causes of health inequities caused by structural racism, particularly in communities of color facing significant health challenges.
Description
Grant Opportunity: The 2023 Evidence for Action: Innovative Research to Advance Racial Equity focuses on addressing the direct impacts of structural racism on the health and well-being of communities of color, as well as how racism intersects with other forms of marginalization. The funding is aimed at supporting studies on the upstream causes of health inequities, such as systems, structures, laws, policies, and practices that influence resource distribution and opportunities. Priority is given to research that centers on the needs of communities with the greatest health burdens and can inform specific courses of action or establish beneficial practices. While various aspects of health equity will be considered, interventions designed to reduce race-based disparities are prioritized. The grant period is flexible, up to 36 months, with rare exceptions for projects needing up to 48 months if sufficient justification is provided.
