Keep Louisiana Beautiful (KLB), in partnership with the State of Louisiana and the Office of the Lieutenant Governor, is accepting applications for its 2025-26 Healthy Communities Grant (HCG) program. Since 2004, KLB has distributed more than $7.7 million in grants to support litter abatement, waste reduction, recycling, and environmental education efforts across Louisiana. This grant cycle continues the mission of encouraging community-based environmental improvement projects with measurable and sustainable outcomes.

The Healthy Communities Grant offers funding for local programs and projects that promote positive behavioral change to enhance community appearance and environmental health. Focus areas include litter removal and prevention, environmental education, recycling, waste management, enforcement against illegal dumping, and advocacy for sustainable practices. Projects should involve community collaboration, diverse support, and volunteer engagement.

Grants range from $2,500 to $10,000 and are awarded on a reimbursement basis. A minimum 15% match is required, which can be provided as cash, in-kind contributions, or volunteer time. All applicants must be a Louisiana-based governmental entity, school, college, university, nonprofit organization, or a current Circle of Excellence KLB Community or University Affiliate. Additional requirements include being a State Certified Vendor, submission of an IRS determination letter (for nonprofits), and good standing with the Secretary of State.

Projects must be completed by May 1, 2026, and a final report including photos, a press release, letters of acknowledgment to state legislators, social media documentation, and reimbursement forms must be submitted by that date. KLB also requires participation in its “Love the Boot Week” in April 2026 and mandates public acknowledgment of funding through press outreach and social media tagging.

The application deadline is June 20, 2025. Before starting the application, applicants are encouraged to download and review the sample application.
