Description
The Joe C. Davis Foundation provides grant funding to charitable organizations based in Davidson County, Tennessee. The Foundation aims to support organizations through both general operating support and project-specific funding. It offers funding to eligible 501(c)(3) organizations and does not provide grants to individuals or for fundraising events. The Foundation follows a structured grant-making process and evaluates applications based on organizational history, financial stability, project goals, and anticipated outcomes.
The Foundation accepts grant applications through a secure online process. The primary grant cycle occurs in September, with applications due by August 1. Organizations may request grants for amounts exceeding $25,000 only during this cycle. The application requires a comprehensive overview of the applicant organization, including its history, mission, programs, and services. Additionally, applicants must provide detailed information about the funding request, including project goals, anticipated outcomes, collaboration efforts, and sustainability plans. Financial documentation is required, including a breakdown of the total project budget, funding sources, and support from other donors.
Organizations must maintain an updated profile on www.GivingMatters.com. If an organization’s profile is not current, it must submit additional documents, including a list of executive managers and board members, the latest audited financial statements and IRS Form 990, as well as a copy of the IRS determination letter confirming 501(c)(3) status. A written statement verifying that the organization's nonprofit status remains valid is also required.
The Foundation does not fund ticket purchases for fundraising events or charitable dinners. The funding is strictly reserved for charitable organizations with verified nonprofit status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The evaluation process considers various factors, such as the project’s alignment with the Foundation’s mission, its long-term sustainability, and the applicant's financial health.
Applicants interested in submitting a request must contact Angela Goddard at 615-352-9036 for further instructions. The Foundation's office is located at 104 Woodmont Blvd., Suite 310, Nashville, Tennessee 37205.
