Travel Oregon’s Competitive Grants Program 2024-2025
This grant provides funding to local governments, tribes, and nonprofits in Oregon to improve tourism infrastructure and promote inclusivity for underserved communities, boosting the state's visitor industry and local economies.
Description
Travel Oregon’s Competitive Grants Program allocates 10% of its budget to support projects that enhance Oregon’s visitor industry, contributing to the development and improvement of local economies and communities. The program aligns with Travel Oregon’s vision of fostering a welcoming destination that drives economic prosperity, supports the natural environment, and celebrates the state’s diverse cultures. The 2024-2025 grant cycle focuses on projects that address tourism infrastructure or promotion with a strong emphasis on increasing access and inclusion for underserved or under-resourced communities, as outlined in Oregon’s DEI Action Plan.
Eligible applicants include local governments, port districts, federally recognized tribes, and nonprofit entities registered with the Oregon Secretary of State. Applicants must demonstrate direct work in improving Oregon’s travel and tourism economic impacts. Each entity may submit only one application, and multiple entities cannot request funding for the same project. Projects should align with Travel Oregon’s priorities, such as developing niche tourism products, engaging residents in destination management, enhancing visitor experiences, supporting under-resourced communities, and promoting Oregon’s brand to broader audiences.
The application process begins with a required Letter of Intent (LOI), which must be submitted between December 2, 2024, and January 15, 2025, at 5 PM PT. Upon approval of the LOI, applicants will receive an invitation to complete the full application, due by February 27, 2025, at 5 PM PT. Applicants can access the LOI form through Travel Oregon’s online portal. Returning users can log in with their existing credentials, while new users must create an account.
Funding decisions will be announced on June 17, 2025. Successful projects must submit a mid-project report by February 17, 2026, and complete all activities by November 3, 2026. A final accomplishment report, including a detailed budget and proof of spending, is due by November 17, 2026. Projects are expected to align with the goals in Travel Oregon’s 2023-2025 Biennial Plan and demonstrate measurable impacts on tourism development, economic prosperity, and inclusivity.
