RFA R-25.2 TREC:AIIRA TREC: Advancing Innovative Individual Research Awards at TREC-Eligible Institutions
This funding opportunity supports innovative cancer research projects at select Texas institutions located far from major cancer centers, aiming to improve prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer.
Description
The TREC-AIIRA program by CPRIT funds innovative cancer research at select Texas institutions, particularly in regions with low cancer research funding. Awards are up to $250,000 per year for three years, with proposals accepted from September 18 to December 10, 2024, and projects starting June 1, 2025. Eligible projects focus on novel research that advances cancer prevention, diagnosis, or treatment and may include laboratory, translational, or clinical studies.
Applicants must be TREC-eligible institutions located 100 miles or more from Texas's NCI-designated cancer centers. Each institution may submit three applications. PIs must hold a doctoral degree, reside in Texas, and dedicate at least 15% effort to the project. Applications are reviewed for significance, innovation, and impact. Selected projects are required to report annually, with funding contingent on meeting project milestones.
