This funding initiative provides $5,000 scholarships to students in the U.S. pursuing education in organic agriculture, helping to foster the next generation of organic farmers.

Description

The Future Organic Farmers Grant is a funding initiative from the CCOF Foundation aimed at supporting students pursuing careers in organic agriculture. This program offers $5,000 scholarships to students in vocational training programs or two- or four-year college degree programs in the United States. The primary goal of the grant is to invest in the future of organic farming by enabling more beginning farmers to enter the field, ultimately expanding organic acreage and strengthening the supply of organic food.

To be eligible for the grant, applicants must be enrolled in a relevant educational program in the United States that will help them establish a career in organic agriculture. This includes both vocational training and college degree programs. Graduate-level students are not eligible. Applicants must demonstrate financial need, a strong interest in organic agriculture, and a clear commitment to pursuing a career in the field. A final report is required from grantees at the end of the award year.

The funds from the grant are intended to help cover tuition and other educational expenses. The grant program does not cover living expenses, personal items, or unrelated coursework. The selection process seeks applicants who show passion, potential for leadership, and long-term dedication to organic practices.

Applications can be submitted online through the CCOF Foundation website. Additional CCOF grants and educational resources are available to support a broad spectrum of organic farmers, handlers, and producers.

The CCOF Foundation is based in Santa Cruz, California, and is part of the larger California Certified Organic Farmers organization, which promotes organic agriculture through certification, education, and advocacy. For more information, applicants and interested parties can contact the organization at their headquarters: 877 Cedar Street, Suite 248, Santa Cruz, CA 95060.
