UWHC City/County Grant 2025
This funding opportunity provides financial support to local nonprofit organizations serving residents of Henderson City and County for various community programs, excluding religious activities and event funding.
Description
The 2025 City/County Grant is a collaborative funding opportunity offered by the City of Henderson Government and the Henderson County Government. These two government entities have unified their annual grant cycles into a single application process for 2025 to streamline access to funding for eligible local nonprofit organizations. While the United Way of Henderson County is not managing the funds directly, it is supporting the process by helping to organize and guide applicants through the application and review procedures.
The application opens on March 31, 2025, and the deadline to submit is May 5, 2025, at 5:00 PM Central Time. Applications must be submitted through the online portal, and no late submissions will be accepted. Applicants must either log in or create an account in the system to complete their application, which includes options to save drafts and return to them later. Applicants are advised to save frequently and are required to click “SUBMIT” to finalize the process. Internet Explorer should not be used when submitting the application. A confirmation email will be sent after submission.
Eligible organizations must be 501(c)(3) nonprofits that serve residents of either the City of Henderson or Henderson County. Religious programming, capital campaigns, or capital purchases are ineligible. Additionally, this grant is not intended for event funding; a separate application process exists for those purposes. Organizations may apply for up to $15,000 from the City and/or up to $15,000 from the County, with a combined maximum request of $30,000. If an organization is applying for two separate programs or projects—one with each entity—two separate applications are required.
Programs eligible for funding include but are not limited to food assistance, housing and homelessness services, support services for survivors of violence or trauma, youth enrichment programming, health and wellness services, and economic mobility initiatives such as financial literacy or transportation access. All applications will be reviewed by a 12-member Allocations Review Team appointed by the City and County and chaired by Jack Brewer. Interviews or site visits may be part of the review process. Award decisions will be announced in June 2025.
Funds will be distributed beginning in July 2025. County funds are scheduled for disbursement during the first week of July, while City funds will follow in July or August unless otherwise specified. Organizations that receive funding are required to submit a six-month report by January 23, 2026, at 5:00 PM CT. The report must include demographics and numbers served, volunteer data, a financial report detailing the use of funds, and a sustainability update, along with related promotional materials. Failure to submit the report may disqualify organizations from receiving future funding.
Appeals can be made in public sessions for City funding or through private meetings with designated County representatives for County funding concerns. For support and inquiries, applicants may contact the United Way of Henderson County at 270-826-2107 or visit the organization at 428 Second Street, Henderson, KY.
