St. Mary’s Healthcare

This grant provides financial support to nonprofit organizations in the Fulton-Montgomery region to develop new health programs or strengthen existing services that improve community well-being.

Description

St. Mary’s Healthcare in Amsterdam, New York, is currently accepting applications for its Carondelet Community Fund Grants. These grants are designed to provide micro-level financial support to nonprofit organizations within St. Mary’s service area, focusing on efforts that introduce new programs or strengthen existing services that contribute to community health and well-being. The fund continues the legacy of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, who founded the institution and dedicated their work to serving local neighbors in need.

Established in 1996, the Carondelet Community Fund serves as a philanthropic arm of St. Mary’s Healthcare, aiming to extend the mission of service and community partnership throughout the Fulton-Montgomery region. The fund provides financial awards of up to $10,000 to nonprofit organizations, offering a valuable resource for those pursuing innovative or enhanced services for community benefit. These microgrants are intentionally modest to help foster the early growth or strategic reinforcement of local initiatives.

The application process requires submission of a formal letter, no more than five pages and double-spaced, that includes several critical components. Organizations must provide a history of their services, the problem or need they are addressing, and a narrative summary of their proposed project with expected outcomes. They must also submit a financial statement, IRS Form 990, a proposed grant budget, project start and completion dates, and a list of partners involved in the work. The letter must also include the geographic and demographic details of the population served.

Applications are due by April 25, 2025, and can be submitted either by mail to Margaret Brodie, Vice President of Mission Advancement and Patient Experience, at St. Mary’s Healthcare, 427 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010, or via email to brodiem@nysmha.org. Submissions will be reviewed by the Carondelet Community Fund Committee, with final funding decisions approved by the St. Mary’s Healthcare Board of Trustees. Notifications will be issued after May 31, 2025.

For additional guidance or clarification regarding the application process, applicants can contact Margaret Brodie at (518) 841-7135 or brodiem@nysmha.org. St. Mary’s encourages applicants whose initiatives align with its commitment to compassionate, community-centered service to apply for this impactful opportunity.
