Large Community Improvement Grant

Ceiling: $10,000
Local
City of Centennial

This grant provides funding for neighborhood-led projects in Centennial that improve shared community spaces, such as landscaping, signage, and community gardens, fostering collaboration and pride among residents.

Description

The City of Centennial is accepting proposals for its Large Community Improvement Grant program, which is open from February 14 to April 1, 2025. Administered by the city's Neighborhood Services division, this grant is intended to fund large-scale neighborhood improvement projects that enhance shared community spaces. The program supports projects up to $10,000 each and is geared toward making visible and impactful improvements that benefit the public and promote community pride.

Eligible projects may include, but are not limited to, the installation of neighborhood signage, landscaping enhancements, placemaking efforts, and the development of community gardens. All proposed projects must occur within the City of Centennial and conform to relevant city codes and regulations. To ensure alignment with community standards and requirements, applicants are required to meet with the Neighborhood Services Manager prior to submitting their applications.

The grant is specifically designed for collaborative, resident-led initiatives. Each application must designate at least two community members, living at separate addresses within the neighborhood, to serve as project leads throughout the process. These individuals will be responsible for guiding the project from inception to completion. All proposed work must also have documented approval from the property owner or other controlling entity.

A unique requirement of the grant is that awardees must install a commemorative plaque at the project site, acknowledging the collaboration between the neighborhood and the City of Centennial. Additionally, participants are expected to provide both "before" and "after" photographs to document the impact of the improvements. Projects must enhance commonly shared areas within the neighborhood and be accessible for public enjoyment.

The grant timeline includes a planning phase during February and March, in which applicants are expected to meet with the Neighborhood Services Manager and obtain contractor bids. Applications are due by April 1, 2025 at 11:59 p.m., with grant awards announced in May. All funded projects must be completed by October 2025. Applications must follow all listed requirements and submit necessary documentation through the designated proposal process.
