Fire Safety Education Grant Opportunities
This funding opportunity provides financial support for programs that educate children and older adults about fire safety, helping to reduce fire-related risks in these vulnerable populations.
Description
The Healey-Driscoll Administration has announced the availability of $2 million in grants aimed at supporting fire and life safety education for children and older adults, who are the most vulnerable in the event of a fire at home. The grants are part of the Student Awareness of Fire Education (SAFE) and Senior SAFE programs, which are administered by the Executive Office of Public Safety & Security and the Department of Fire Services. These programs send local firefighters to various venues to teach age-appropriate safety lessons to children under 18 and adults 65 and older. The SAFE grant program has significantly contributed to a decline in child fire deaths in Massachusetts, while the Senior SAFE grants focus on reducing fire-related fatalities among older adults through education and safety measures.
