This initiative provides funding and support programs for for-profit businesses in Portland, Oregon, that are at least 51% Black-owned and have been operating for over two years.
Description
The 2024 Grants & Programs initiative provides opportunities for eligible businesses to apply for funding or participate in programs aimed at supporting business growth and development. Applications will be open from October 1st to October 31st, and applicants may apply for only one grant or program during this cycle. Additionally, all applicants are eligible to receive Direct Technical Assistance and meet with a Subject Matter Expert to enhance their business skills and strategies. Notifications regarding the selection of grant recipients and program participants will be sent by November 15th.
To qualify for any of the grants or programs, businesses must meet general eligibility requirements: they must be for-profit entities with at least 51% Black ownership, have an active registration with the Oregon Secretary of State’s Office, be currently operating in Portland, Oregon for more than two years, and provide the last two years of business tax returns, including Schedule C.
The available funding opportunities include various grants, such as the Inventory Grant, Technology Grant, and Emergency Grant. The Inventory Grant, for example, offers $5,000 to support retail, home-based businesses, restaurants, caterers, and confectioners in replenishing or purchasing business inventory. Payments from this grant can be made directly to vendors, and recipients must submit proof of paid receipts or invoices as part of the program requirements.
In addition to the grant options, there are programs like the Tax Preparation Program and the Business Credit Program, designed to help businesses improve their financial management and credit standing. Applicants should carefully review the grant information session video and FAQ section for detailed requirements and guidance. For further inquiries, the contact email is info@bbaoregon.org.
