City of Boynton Beach Small Business Grants
This program provides financial assistance to small for-profit businesses in Boynton Beach to enhance their marketing efforts or support essential operational needs.
Description
The City of Boynton Beach has announced its Small Business Grants program for the 2024-2025 fiscal year, providing financial assistance to local businesses. Applications for these grants open on October 15, 2024, at noon and will be processed on a first-completed, first-served basis until the allocated funds are fully awarded. The grants are available to for-profit, privately held businesses within the city limits, excluding those located in the Boynton Beach CRA (Community Redevelopment Agency) Districts. Non-profit organizations and certain business types, such as firearm sales, personal services, and adult entertainment, are ineligible for this program.
To qualify, businesses must be licensed and registered with all necessary government and professional agencies and must have between 1 and 25 employees. Each business may only receive one grant per fiscal year and must apply for different grants two years apart. All grants operate on a reimbursement basis, meaning businesses must cover project costs upfront and submit proof of payment before receiving funds. Reimbursement documents are due by August 15, 2025.
There are two types of grants available: the Marketing Grant and the Support Grant. The Marketing Grant provides up to $2,500 per applicant and is intended to help businesses improve their marketing efforts, including website design, social media promotion, and brand development. The Support Grant offers up to $10,000 to assist businesses with essential needs such as purchasing equipment, inventory, and renovations to commercial properties.
To apply, businesses must provide several documents, including a valid ID, business tax receipt, proof of Sunbiz registration, a signed W9 form, and tax returns. All eligible projects must begin after October 1, 2024, and grantees must complete at least one consultation session with the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) before receiving funds. The City reserves the right to approve or deny any use of funds based on alignment with its economic development goals.
Certain expenses, such as personal use vehicles, owner salaries, training, and office supplies, are explicitly excluded from reimbursement. Applicants must ensure their documentation is complete, as incomplete applications will not be reviewed. If deemed eligible, businesses will receive an award notification, and funding will be released following successful documentation and compliance with all grant policies.
