Description

The Texas Backup Power Package Program, managed by the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT), aims to enhance community health, safety, and well-being by providing grants and loans to qualifying entities. These funds are designated for the design, procurement, or installation of backup power packages. Defined as stand-alone, behind-the-meter, multiday backup power sources, these packages are intended to ensure the reliability of power during emergencies or power outages. The Texas Backup Power Package Advisory Committee, established on January 14, 2024, is responsible for recommending eligibility and grant criteria to the PUCT. Their recommendations are expected by October 1, 2024.
