Description

The Homeless Prevention Program Non-profit Application provides funding opportunities for community-based non-profit organizations serving Irving, Texas residents. Non-profits can apply for up to $230,000 in one-time funding for Fiscal Year 2024/25 through the General Fund. The funding is intended to address housing instability and prevent homelessness by offering short-term financial assistance and supportive services. The funding term is for 12 months.

Programs funded under this initiative aim to stabilize housing situations for residents at risk of homelessness by providing rent, mortgage, utility assistance, and other critical housing-related aid. Additional services may include access to food pantries, financial education, workforce development, senior services such as transportation and home safety modifications, and educational programs like GED preparation and ESL training. The program also emphasizes collaboration with on-site shared partners to offer healthcare, mental health services, and domestic violence counseling.

The application period opens Wednesday, January 8, 2025, and closes at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, February 3, 2025. Interested applicants are encouraged to attend one of the information sessions for guidance on the application process. A virtual session will be held on Monday, January 13, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., and an in-person session is scheduled for Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at City Hall's First Floor Council Chambers Conference Room.
