Description
The 2025 West Philadelphia Creative Grant program provides financial support to artists, organizations, and community groups working to enhance the cultural and creative landscape of West Philadelphia. These grants, offering up to $2,500, aim to support artistic projects, cultural activities, and the operational needs of individuals and organizations that contribute to the creative vibrancy of the community. Applications are being accepted from December 16, 2024, to January 17, 2025, through an online submission form.
Eligibility requirements include being at least 18 years old and residing, working, or maintaining significant ties to West Philadelphia. Applicants’ work must align with or respond to the histories and traditions of Black artists, reflecting the program’s commitment to honoring and fostering this cultural heritage. A wide range of participants is encouraged to apply, including artists at all stages of their careers, curators, educators, collectives, informal groups, and students over 18.
Two types of grants are available: Project Grants and General Operating Grants. Project Grants provide funding of up to $2,500 for specific artistic projects or cultural activities that benefit the West Philadelphia community. General Operating Grants also offer up to $2,500 and are designed to provide direct support for the day-to-day operations of artists and organizations contributing to the local creative ecosystem.
The program emphasizes inclusivity, welcoming applications from emerging artists, career professionals, hobbyists, and retirees alike. Managed by the West Philadelphia Arts Council, the grant program seeks to amplify diverse voices and creative experiences.
