Description

Grant Opportunity: Disability Inclusion

The Foundation for Youth with Disabilities and Chronic Health Conditions is offering grant opportunities to organizations that support children and youth adversely affected by a disability. The foundation aims to provide access to adaptive youth experiences, animal-assisted therapy, traditional and nontraditional therapeutic services, and independent living programs. Eligible organizations must be qualified public entities or organizations exempt from tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Private foundations, commercial businesses, and individuals are not eligible for funding.

The foundation's focus areas in chronic health and disability services include early childhood intervention services, special education, animal-assisted therapies, and adaptive youth experiences. Grant requests should align with the foundation's mission statement and funding priorities in Animal Welfare, Child Welfare, Mental & Behavioral Health, Chronic Health & Disability Services, and Child & Youth Experiences. The foundation typically funds up to 25% of a project's budget or 10% of an organization's total annual operating budget.

Grant applications can be submitted throughout the year; however, it is recommended to submit at least four months before the funding is needed. Organizations awarded a grant must submit a final report before being eligible to submit a new grant application. The foundation funds general operating expenses, specific programs or projects, and capital requests but does not support fundraising events, scholarships, professional conferences, symposiums, performances, competition expenses or endowments.

The Foundation for Youth with Disabilities and Chronic Health Conditions primarily supports organizations in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and adjoining counties in North Texas. International grants are made by invitation only. A letter of inquiry is not required but can be submitted online via the grantee portal if there is uncertainty about a grant request being a match for the foundation. Preliminary meetings are discouraged; instead, applications or letters of inquiry are reviewed first before determining if a meeting or site visit would be beneficial.

Grant requests are considered by the foundation's board, which typically meets eleven times a
