Shell LiveWIRE Louisiana Accelerator Program
This program provides free resources and training to help micro and small business owners in select Louisiana parishes, particularly those from diverse backgrounds, grow and sustain their enterprises.
Description
The Shell LiveWIRE Louisiana Accelerator Program is a free initiative designed to support micro and small business owners in sustaining and growing their enterprises. As part of Shell’s flagship global enterprise development program, the Louisiana chapter offers participants a comprehensive set of tools and resources to drive innovation, create jobs, and build sustainable incomes. The program targets entrepreneurs in specific parishes and is particularly inclusive of diverse business owners, including women, minorities, veterans, and LGBTQ+ individuals.
The accelerator program features eight virtual training sessions held weekly, one-on-one business consulting and coaching provided by the Louisiana Small Business Development Center, and opportunities for media and digital promotion. Participants also benefit from cohort and expert networking events, culminating in a graduation showcase hosted at the New Orleans Jazz Fest. Graduates gain lifetime access to Shell LiveWIRE’s global alumni network, which includes entry to international competitions like Top Ten Innovators.
Applications open from December to January, with interviews and participant selections completed in February. The program itself runs from March to April. Eligible applicants must reside in one of the following parishes: Ascension, Assumption, East Baton Rouge, West Baton Rouge, Iberville, Jefferson, Lafourche, Livingston, Saint Charles, Saint James, Saint John the Baptist, Saint Mary, or Terrebonne. There are no educational requirements, and the program is open to those aged 18 and older who own a micro or small business or are individual entrepreneurs.
Applicants are evaluated on their eligibility criteria, which include location, age, business ownership, and attendance capacity. The selection process also considers the applicant's commitment to improving their business and the provision of a product or service within the eligible parishes. The program encourages applications from a wide range of sectors, including those outside the oil and gas industry.
Participants not only gain valuable insights and support but also the chance to network with industry leaders and peers. By completing the program, entrepreneurs can strengthen their business operations and expand their professional networks on a local and global scale. Interested individuals are encouraged to apply during the specified application period to join the next cohort.
