Durham County Open Space Matching Grants 2024-2025
This funding opportunity supports nonprofit organizations and community groups in Durham County to enhance and preserve public open spaces and recreational facilities through various projects.
Description
The Durham County Open Space Program is now accepting applications for the 2024-2025 Matching Grants Cycle. The program provides funding to nonprofit organizations for projects that preserve publicly accessible open spaces and enhance recreational opportunities within Durham County, including areas both inside and outside city limits. Grants can cover up to 50% of the project costs, supporting a variety of initiatives such as land acquisition, trail improvements, community gardens, interpretive signage, and playgrounds.
For smaller projects within designated priority focus areas, applicants may use a simplified application process with a reduced match requirement of 25%, with grants available for up to $5,000. These priority projects do not require formal nonprofit status, expanding the opportunity for community groups to participate.
Applications are due by 5 p.m. on November 13, 2024, and will be reviewed by the Durham Open Space and Trails Commission's Matching Grants Committee, with final approval by the Durham Board of County Commissioners. Interested applicants should thoroughly review the program guidelines available on the project website and may contact the grant administrator, Brendan Moore, for further assistance.
