H2O PA – High Hazard Unsafe Dam Projects
This program provides financial assistance to Pennsylvania municipalities and agencies for the repair, rehabilitation, or removal of high hazard unsafe dams that threaten populated areas.
Description
The H2O PA High Hazard Dams and High Hazard Unsafe Dams Program, established by the Act of July 9, 2008, aims to provide grants for the repair, rehabilitation, or removal of high hazard unsafe dams in Pennsylvania. These grants are available to the Commonwealth, independent agencies, municipalities, and municipal authorities. Eligible projects must address deficiencies identified by the Department of Environmental Protection that pose a risk to populated areas downstream. Applications are evaluated based on the level of hazard, cost-effectiveness, and impact on water supply and tourism. Grants can be awarded for projects costing $500,000 or more, with individual grants not exceeding $20,000,000.
