Economic Catalyst Program
This funding opportunity provides financial support to state, regional, and local economic development organizations to create full-time jobs in economically distressed areas of North Carolina.
Description
The Golden LEAF Foundation is offering grants through their Economic Catalyst Program to eligible state, regional, and local economic development entities. The grants are intended to support projects in which a company commits to creating a specific number of full-time jobs in a tobacco-dependent or economically distressed area. Eligible applicants include governmental entities and 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations. The grants are for projects that will lead to job creation, and applications must be submitted before the project announces its decision to locate and create jobs in North Carolina. Competitive applications will demonstrate that the expected job creation is at risk without Golden LEAF support. Factors considered for funding include the economic distress of the community, the number and quality of jobs to be created, and the economic impact and strategic importance of the project. The grants can be used for various purposes, such as funding training programs, public infrastructure improvements, and purchase of equipment. The Golden LEAF Foundation will consider proposals throughout the year, and applicants should inform Golden LEAF if their projects are urgent. For more information and to apply, visit the Golden LEAF website. Contact information for specific inquiries is provided on the website as well.
