Amon G. Carter Foundation Grants
This grant provides funding for community projects in Texas that enhance quality of life, focusing on education, health services, social support, and initiatives for youth and the elderly.
Description
The Amon G. Carter Foundation is a Texas-based nonprofit organization established in 1945 by Amon G. Carter and Nenetta Burton Carter. It provides philanthropic support primarily focused on improving the quality of life in Tarrant County, Texas. The Foundation directs most of its grantmaking toward this local area, although it may consider projects outside the region on a case-by-case basis. Such exceptions are typically initiated internally by the Foundation rather than through open solicitation.
The Foundation’s grantmaking interests span several sectors, including the arts, education, health and medical services, human and social services, and civic and community endeavors. Programs specifically benefiting youth and the elderly are also a focus. The Foundation evaluates grant requests that align with these priority areas and does not consider grant or loan applications from individuals.
There is no fixed deadline for submitting grant proposals to the Amon G. Carter Foundation, allowing organizations to apply at any time throughout the year. Proposals are considered during three annual board meetings typically held in February, May, and November. Specific meeting dates are made available in the News section of the Foundation’s website as they are finalized. Grant proposals are processed on a rolling basis leading up to these board meetings.
Applications must be submitted in hard copy only and should include a narrative summary and budget for the program or project. Additional required documents include the organization’s current and prior year budgets with actual results, the most recent annual report, audit report or tax return, a list of current board members, and the organization’s IRS Tax Determination Letter confirming tax-exempt status. Email submissions are not accepted, and there is no standardized application form. The Foundation expresses a preference to meet in person with prospective grantees when possible.
Eligible applicants must be tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or qualify under another appropriate tax-exempt classification. All materials should be sent via mail to John H. Robinson, Executive Vice President of the Amon G. Carter Foundation, at the provided mailing address in Fort Worth, Texas.
