Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation

This grant provides funding to organizations focused on training future health professionals to deliver compassionate care to diverse populations while addressing issues of diversity, equity, and ethical challenges in healthcare.

Description

The Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation requires grantees receiving President’s Grants to submit a comprehensive Final Narrative Report and a Final Financial Report at the conclusion of the grant period. The Final Narrative Report must stand alone as a document that provides a complete understanding of the funded project’s design, implementation, results, and future implications. The Foundation places significant importance on grantee outcomes and may assist in further disseminating results through its website and social media platforms.

The Final Narrative Report should ideally not exceed 20 pages and must address the entire grant period, including any extensions. The report should begin with a clear and concise statement of the original project objectives as outlined in the initial proposal. It should then describe the work initially planned, the activities actually conducted, any changes or challenges encountered, lessons learned, and additional factors affecting the project’s results. Grantees must detail the outputs generated, such as papers, course materials, websites, and other tangible products, supported by specific quantitative data when possible. Copies of these products must be submitted with the report.

Furthermore, the Final Narrative Report must document the changes and impact on the original target audience(s), plans for sustaining the project’s work beyond the grant period, and any dissemination activities of results or products. Grantees are encouraged to provide subsequent updates or products related to the project even after the funding period has ended by submitting addenda to the final report.

The Final Financial Report must serve as an official statement of grant expenditures, corresponding precisely to the approved budget’s line items. Transfers among line items are permitted only up to $2,000 or 15% of the approved line item amount, whichever is greater. Any transfer beyond this threshold requires prior written approval from the Foundation. At the end of the grant period, any unexpended funds must be returned to the Foundation.
