2025-2026 Charlottesville Affordable Housing Fund Grant
This grant provides financial support for projects that develop and preserve affordable housing for low- and moderate-income residents in Charlottesville, particularly focusing on those earning 60% or less of the Area Median Income.
Description
The City of Charlottesville has opened the application period for the FY2025-2026 Charlottesville Affordable Housing Fund (CAHF) Grant Program, which supports projects aimed at developing, preserving, and creating affordable housing solutions for low- and moderate-income residents. The program primarily targets households earning 60% or less of the Area Median Income (AMI), with a particular focus on very low-income households, especially those earning 30% or below of the AMI. Projects that prioritize deep affordability for vulnerable populations receive special consideration.
Eligible applicants include nonprofit and for-profit developers engaged in activities such as new construction, land acquisition, rehabilitation, or preservation of affordable housing units. The CAHF program is not a direct subsidy for individuals, but individuals may access services like affordable rentals or down payment assistance through funded organizations.
The exact funding amount will be finalized during the City’s FY2025 budget process, with funds available from July 1, 2025. Applications must be submitted by November 22, 2024, at 5:00 PM. Applicants can find the application and additional information on the CAHF Grant Program Application Page. Organizations seeking guidance can schedule a pre-application meeting with Housing Program Manager Antoine Williams via email at williamsan@charlottesville.gov, available through November 15, 2024.
