Oral Health Access, Advocacy, Education, and Workforce Development
This grant provides funding to nonprofit organizations and government agencies in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and North Carolina to improve oral health access and equity, particularly for people with disabilities.
Description
The Delta Dental Foundation (DDF) provides grants to organizations that promote oral health equity and align with the foundation's strategic priorities. The foundation seeks to support initiatives that enhance access to dental care, advocate for oral health policies, educate communities on the importance of oral health, and develop the dental workforce. A particular emphasis is placed on proposals that advance oral health equity for people with disabilities.
Grants are evaluated based on alignment with DDF's strategic plan, the populations and communities served, program accountability, fundraising practices, clearly defined success metrics, the availability of alternative funding sources, and program sustainability. The foundation prioritizes data-driven impact measurement, moving beyond basic program outputs to assess tangible improvements in oral health equity. They encourage grantees to develop comprehensive evaluation measures that track outcomes, processes, and any unintended impacts.
Funding is available exclusively to nonprofit organizations, government agencies, schools, colleges, and universities that operate in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and North Carolina. DDF does not fund projects related to building construction, normal overhead costs, indirect expenses, loans, commercial or proprietary initiatives, or politically affiliated activities. Additionally, they do not provide grants to individuals, except in cases of scholarships, research grants, and community service awards.
Grant applications are reviewed quarterly, with submission deadlines set for February 7, 2025, May 29, 2025, August 28, 2025, and November 13, 2025. Applicants are encouraged to contact DDF before applying, particularly those in North Carolina, who should reach out to Elaine Loyack. A grant reporting form is required within one year of receiving funds or before applying for additional funding.
The foundation emphasizes its commitment to fostering strong relationships with grantees and empowering local communities in developing innovative solutions to systemic oral health challenges. DDF supports initiatives that promote awareness, education, and direct funding for programs that enhance oral health outcomes for underserved populations.
