Urban Trees Grant Program
This program provides funding to various organizations and community groups in Maryland to plant and maintain trees, improving urban environments and combating climate change.
Description
The Urban Trees Grant Program is part of a legislative agenda passed by the Maryland General Assembly to achieve 5,000,000 trees by 2031. The program aims to green communities, enhance quality of life, human health, and community livability by improving air quality, and reducing urban heat island effect, while also mitigating the effects of climate change. Projects selected for funding must focus on the planting of trees and include implementation and maintenance phases. Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations, schools, community associations, service groups, institutions of higher education, counties, municipalities, and forest conservancy district boards. The application process is conducted through an online system, and the Trust will host informational webinars for interested applicants.
