Individual Artists Grants 2025
This funding opportunity supports local artists in Fulton, Montgomery, and Saratoga Counties to create new public art projects that engage and involve their communities.
Description
The 2025 Individual Artist Grants under Saratoga Arts' Community Arts Regrant Program provide funding to support local artists in creating new work and engaging their communities through public art projects. Eligible artists from Fulton, Montgomery, and Saratoga Counties may apply for grant amounts of $1,000, $2,000, or $3,000. Applicants can submit up to three proposals across different categories (Community Arts, Individual Artist, Arts Education), with a combined funding cap of $5,000. The grants prioritize projects that include a community engagement component, such as public exhibitions or performances, or involve community participation in the creative process.
To be eligible, applicants must reside in the service area, be at least 18 years old, and not currently enrolled in a full-time degree program. They must also have avoided receiving an Individual Artist Grant in the previous three cycles. All projects must take place within the applicant’s county of residence and be completed between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2025. Projects focusing on recreational, therapeutic, or religious purposes, capital expenditures, or routine operating expenses are not eligible.
The application process includes submitting proof of residency, a project description, an artist’s resume, and artistic support materials by November 22, 2024. Applicants may attend information sessions or seek technical assistance up to November 1, 2024, for feedback on their proposals. All applications are reviewed by a panel comprising artists and community members, with funding decisions based on criteria such as artistic merit, community engagement, project feasibility, and the anticipated impact on the artist’s career development.
Successful applicants must fulfill grant recipient responsibilities, including attending a grant reception, crediting Saratoga Arts and NYSCA in promotional materials, and ensuring accessibility for public events. A final report documenting project outcomes is also required within 30 days of project completion. Artists denied funding may appeal on procedural grounds, following specific steps outlined in the program's appeals process.
