FDOT State Safety Office Traffic Safety Subgrants
This funding opportunity provides financial support to organizations in Florida to develop and implement traffic safety programs that reduce crashes, injuries, and fatalities on the state's roadways.
Description
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) State Safety Office awards subgrants to support traffic safety programs aimed at reducing crashes, injuries, and fatalities on Florida roadways. These subgrants provide "seed" funding for new or ongoing programs that address traffic safety deficiencies in priority areas, enabling organizations to expand activities, improve safety systems, and implement innovative solutions. Eligible applicants must demonstrate the presence of a traffic safety problem within their jurisdiction using crash data and propose activities to address it.
Subgrants are supported through funding from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and are allocated based on state population and road miles. Additional funding may occasionally be available for projects that address documented traffic safety issues in other program areas. Concept papers, submitted during the application period, serve as the foundation for funding decisions and must detail the proposed activities and expected outcomes.
