2025 Lower Delaware Wild & Scenic River Mini-Grant Program
This grant provides funding to local governments and non-profit organizations for projects that improve the environment, culture, or community along the Lower Delaware River corridor.
Description
The 2025 Lower Delaware Wild & Scenic (LDWS) River Mini-Grant Program offers funding to support projects that align with the goals of the Lower Delaware Wild and Scenic River Management Plan. Grants of up to $5,000 are available, though larger amounts may be considered for compelling multi-year projects. Eligible projects must be located within the Lower Delaware river corridor and benefit the local environment, culture, or community. The grant aims to support initiatives in areas such as water quality improvement, habitat restoration, historic preservation, recreation, economic development, and open space preservation.
Eligible applicants include government entities, municipalities within the Management Council, and non-profit organizations operating in the corridor. New applicants are encouraged, and while previous recipients may apply, preference may be given to those who have not received prior funding. Collaborative projects involving multiple entities are also favored, with one organization acting as the lead applicant. Ineligible activities include mandated mitigation projects, permit compliance studies, and construction.
Applications are due by November 17, 2024, and must be submitted as a single PDF via email. Awards will be announced by January 2, 2025, with projects expected to commence in early 2025. Grant recipients must sign a Memorandum of Understanding and submit an initial invoice for 50% of the grant. The remaining funds will be disbursed upon project completion and submission of a final invoice by September 8, 2025. Deliverables include progress reports, a final report, a project overview video, and participation in the December 2025 LDWS Management Council meeting.
Projects will be evaluated based on criteria such as their impact on the river's resources, ability to foster community relationships, engagement of diverse partners, and sustainability of benefits. Matching funds are not required but are encouraged. Grant recipients must acknowledge LDWS funding in related communications and allow project materials to be shared through LDWS outreach channels.
