VMHC Commonwealth History Fund 2025

Description
The Commonwealth History Fund, established by the Virginia Museum of History & Culture and funded by Dominion Energy and other contributors, aims to support history education and preservation projects across Virginia. The Fund will distribute approximately $400,000 annually, totaling nearly $2,000,000 in its first five years. Eligible projects include restoration, preservation, research, publications, acquisitions, conservation, and infrastructure improvements. Special consideration will be given to projects related to the United States semiquincentennial as part of VMHC's America 250th Initiative during the 2025 and 2026 grant cycles, emphasizing inclusive and impactful historical narratives.
Eligible applicants include Virginia non-profit organizations (501)(c)(3), state and federally recognized American Indian tribes, and local government agencies. Political, partisan, or religious projects are not eligible. The next grant application window is from September 1-30, 2024, with awards announced in early 2025. Acquisition of property, land, and objects
Conservation
Landscape or infrastructure improvements
