Alachua County Gun Violence Prevention Grant
This funding opportunity is designed for grassroots organizations and small businesses in Alachua County to implement programs that reduce gun violence by addressing related social issues and promoting positive community engagement.
Description
The Alachua County Commission has launched a Gun Violence Prevention Grant Initiative, offering funding to non-governmental, grassroots organizations and emerging small businesses for programs that address risk and protective factors associated with gun violence. Proposals should target issues such as substance use, exposure to violence, gang affiliation, and inequalities, while also fostering positive aspirations, social supports, and other protective factors. Grants are capped at $10,000 per project, with a total of $50,000 available under this program. All awarded funds must be spent by September 30, 2025.
Applications must be submitted electronically through the OpenGov platform by midnight on December 11, 2024. Late submissions will not be accepted, and proposals failing to meet the grant criteria will be disqualified. Applicants should thoroughly review the application rules and the Request for Applications (RFA) document before beginning their submission, accessible on the OpenGov site.
An optional information session will take place on November 25, 2024, at 9:00 AM, both in-person at the Alachua County Community Support Services Conference Room in Gainesville and virtually via Microsoft Teams. This session will provide insights into the application process, site navigation, and proposal tips.
