Arts and Culture General Operating Support
This funding opportunity provides multi-year, unrestricted financial support to arts and culture organizations in the Philadelphia area that prioritize community engagement and promote equity and inclusion.
Description
The William Penn Foundation (WPF) is accepting proposals for its Arts and Culture General Operating Support program, which provides multi-year, unrestricted funding to arts and culture organizations in the Philadelphia region. This funding aims to help organizations thrive and ensure their programs reflect the priorities of their communities while advancing equity, inclusion, and access. By supporting the operational sustainability of these organizations, the Foundation seeks to expand the cultural and economic benefits of arts and culture to historically marginalized groups and communities.
Eligible organizations should demonstrate artistic excellence and prioritize community engagement, with a meaningful commitment to racial equity and economic inclusion. WPF encourages organizations to propose strategies for strengthening operational and programming practices that reflect these values. The grant supports organizations with fiscal years beginning anytime from July to December 2025, offering the flexibility to address community priorities and create welcoming, relevant cultural experiences.
WPF has allocated $4.5 million for this program, with maximum grant amounts capped at $675,000 per organization. The amount requested should be proportionate to the organization's operating expenses as outlined in its most recently completed audit. Detailed funding calculations are provided in the RFP. Applications for three-year support must align with the review criteria and additional considerations outlined by WPF, and proposals will undergo an in-depth evaluation process, including site visits for a limited number of organizations.
Applications must be submitted through the WPF Grants Portal by January 31, 2025. Interested organizations are encouraged to download the full RFP packet for comprehensive details, including eligibility, evaluation criteria, and submission requirements. WPF also invites applicants to attend an optional informational webinar on December 12, 2024, at 1:00 PM ET, with a recording available afterward.
This opportunity underscores the Foundation's commitment to sustaining artistically exceptional organizations that are deeply rooted in their communities, fostering equity and inclusion through dynamic arts and culture programming.
