George J. & Effie L. Seay Foundation Grant
This grant provides funding to charitable organizations in Virginia for specific programs and services in the areas of arts, culture, humanities, education, and human services.
Description
The George J. & Effie L. Seay Foundation was established in 1957 to support and promote charitable programs and services within the Commonwealth of Virginia. The foundation primarily funds initiatives that provide specific services or training within the areas of arts, culture, humanities, education, and human services. The Seay Foundation does not consider requests for general operating support.
Grant funding is awarded on an annual basis, with each grant lasting one year. Due to limited available resources, organizations are encouraged to consider applying to either the Seay Foundation or the Morgan Trust but not both in the same cycle. Additionally, organizations that receive funding from either the Seay Foundation or the Morgan Trust must wait at least three years after their last grant payment before applying again.
Applications for funding must be submitted by March 1, and grant decisions are announced by June 30. The application process is managed through the Virginia office of Bank of America, which oversees grantmaking on behalf of the foundation. Specific procedural documents and online application resources are available in both PDF and Microsoft Word formats to assist applicants.
There are no geographic restrictions beyond the requirement that all funded programs serve the Commonwealth of Virginia. Likewise, there are no specific eligibility restrictions beyond the requirement that applicants be qualifying charitable organizations.
For any questions regarding the application process or further details about the foundation, applicants may contact Bank of America’s grantmaking office at va.grantmaking@bofa.com. Applicants should include the foundation’s name in the subject line of their email to ensure proper routing of their inquiries.
