Description
The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development's Animal Industry Division offers grants through the Animal Welfare Fund pursuant to Public Act 132 of 2007. These grants aim to support sterilization and adoption of dogs and cats, educate the public on animal care, and support animal care programs in compliance with state anticruelty laws. Funds may also be used to purchase necessary equipment and supplies for eligible programs. The grant program prioritizes applications that demonstrate potential for significant impact and are compliant with previous grant terms. Applications must be received by October 15 for the upcoming grant cycle running from February 1 to September 1. Eligible organizations must operate registered animal shelters and comply with Public Act 287 of 1969. Organizations previously awarded must have adhered to grant terms to be eligible again. Grantees are required to submit a report of grant-funded activities. Funds are not to replace existing program funds but to supplement new or expanded efforts.
