The Lone Star Workforce of the Future Fund, offered by the Texas Workforce Commission, aims to develop workforce training programs through public junior colleges, public technical institutions, and non-profit organizations. The goal is to increase the supply of qualified workers for entry-level to mid-level jobs in high-demand occupations in Texas. The grant supports performance-based training programs that help participants transition from unemployment or low-wage work to full-time jobs with self-sufficient wages. Eligible uses of funds include curriculum development, instructor fees, training materials, work-related expenses, and wraparound services. Eligible applicants must achieve a 50 percent success rate in transitioning participants to self-sufficient employment.
The training program must lead to employment in high-demand occupations and should involve collaboration with local employers.
