This funding opportunity supports a wide range of organizations in conducting research and projects that address climate challenges, focusing on areas like water resources, ecosystem health, and climate resilience.

Description

The NOAA Climate Program Office (CPO) FY2025 Atmospheric Chemistry, Carbon Cycle, and Climate (AC4) Program invites proposals that address pressing climate challenges and support climate adaptation, resilience, and mitigation research. Through this program, CPO seeks to advance Earth system and social sciences, contribute to assessment reports like the National Climate Assessment, and expand NOAA's capacity for integrated climate information systems. Focus areas include water resources, ecosystem health, coastal resilience, drought, extreme heat, wildfire, air quality, and climate mitigation strategies.

Eligible applicants include higher education institutions, nonprofits, commercial organizations, international organizations, and state, local, and federally recognized tribal governments. Federal entities cannot receive funding directly under this program. Projects are expected to promote principles of diversity and inclusion, with evaluations partially based on applicants’ plans to integrate these values.

Awards range from $100,000 to $750,000, though the total program funding has not been specified. Applications are due by December 9, 2024, with additional information available on the CPO website. For assistance, applicants may contact CPO representatives Anne Li or Diane Brown.
