The Williamsburg Community Foundation (WCF) has updated its grant application process, consolidating multiple funding opportunities into a single, streamlined application. Nonprofits can now apply for all competitive grants, including Community Grants and Special Interest Grants (such as the Altshuler Transportation, McGiffert Fund for the Performing Arts, and An Occasion for the Arts), using one application. This change simplifies the process for organizations seeking funding and ensures all applications are automatically considered for Community Grants.

Deadlines for 2025 grant cycles have been updated. The deadline for Community Grants is January 3, 2025, with awards announced in March 2025. Applications for the Altshuler Amateur Sports Grant are due by September 21, 2025, with awards in November 2025. Capacity Building Grants are accepted on a rolling basis with no specific deadline.

Nonprofits must review the Grant Guidelines and Policies carefully before applying. First-time applicants are encouraged to contact WCF by phone at 757-259-1660 or schedule a meeting with a program officer for guidance. Only one grant per organization is allowed per year. Applicants should consult sample documents, such as the Sample Application, Budget Form, and Budget Narrative, available on the WCF website for preparation. The online application must be submitted via the GoApply grants portal.

Grant decisions are made by a volunteer committee and approved by the WCF Board of Trustees. Applicants may be contacted by a committee member for additional information. Additionally, grant applications may be shared with WCF donors interested in supporting specific requests. However, applications deemed ineligible will not be shared with donors.

If awarded, grant recipients must submit a final report at the end of one year through the GoApply portal. WCF may also request a follow-up visit or phone call to discuss the impact of the funded project. Nonprofits are advised to keep these reporting requirements in mind when applying. This updated process reflects WCF’s commitment to supporting local nonprofits and fostering a more efficient and inclusive funding approach.
