Description
The Henry and Sylvia Yaschik Foundation, a private charitable organization established in 1996, provides grant funding to qualified 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations serving the greater Charleston, South Carolina area. Governed by a three-member board of directors, the foundation is committed to supporting local charitable initiatives and fostering the region’s cultural, educational, and community development.
For the 2025 grant cycle, all applications must be submitted electronically by April 30, 2025. Late applications will not be accepted. Applicants are required to complete and submit all required components outlined in the foundation's grant guidelines and checklist. Notification of award decisions will be issued by June 30, 2025.
The foundation provides funding in various formats based on project scope and needs. These include one-time grants for single-year initiatives, multiyear grants (spanning no more than three years), start-up program grants, and challenge or matching grants. Applicants must clearly specify the type of grant they are requesting in their proposal.
Funding is strictly limited to domestic 501(c)(3) organizations that serve the Charleston, South Carolina area. The foundation does not fund international entities without a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) representative, private foundations (unless they are operating foundations), political or lobbying efforts, or fundraising events such as galas or ticketed dinners.
The foundation has previously awarded grants to a diverse set of organizations, including cultural institutions, education programs, hospitals, and youth services. Notable past recipients include the Gibbes Museum of Art, Wings for Kids, Spoleto Festival USA, Roper St. Francis Hospital, and the Addlestone Hebrew Academy.
