C2C Trenton Creative Network Grant 2025
This grant provides funding to artists and creative businesses in Downtown Trenton to support community-focused projects that enhance the local cultural landscape.
Description
The Trenton Creative Network (TCN) Grant is an initiative designed to support artists and creative businesses in the Creek to Canal (C2C) Creative District in Downtown Trenton, New Jersey. Administered by the Creek to Canal Creative District and maintained by Isles, Inc., this program provides funding for community-centered creative projects that align with the district's strategic development goals as outlined in the "Trenton Arts in Focus" plan. The grant aims to foster a vibrant cultural environment and encourage artistic engagement in the heart of Trenton.
The TCN Grant will award four grants of $2,500 each. Funding is disbursed in two installments: 50 percent at the outset upon signing the grant agreement and 50 percent within 30 days of project completion. All projects must be completed by October 31, 2025. Eligible applicants include artists and creative businesses proposing projects located within the boundaries of the C2C Creative District. To qualify, applicants must demonstrate how their project supports 2 to 3 strategic goals, such as community building, integrating arts in parks, mentoring opportunities, or connecting arts institutions.
Eligible project categories include creative activation of public spaces, visual arts and beautification efforts (e.g., murals, lighting), culture and performing arts events (e.g., concerts, theater, oral history), and community investment initiatives that benefit downtown Trenton residents such as youth education, elderly enrichment, or sports programs. Ineligible projects include those involving debt reduction, operational support, capital campaigns, re-granting, scholarships, religious activities, or political work.
Applications must be submitted online by March 31, 2025. The grant officially launches on February 10, 2025, and award notifications will be issued on April 28, 2025. Applicants must include a project description, budget and timeline, and optionally a portfolio of past work. They must clearly demonstrate how the project will benefit the community and support the C2C goals. Projects must not be for private gain and must serve Downtown Trenton’s residents in a non-discriminatory manner.
Selected grantees will sign a grant agreement and are required to submit both a progress report (three months post-award) and a final report after completion. Reports must include financial documentation, activity descriptions, photographs, and evidence of community engagement. The application process is overseen by a Grant Review Committee made up of local arts leaders, community members, and funders. Committee contacts include Nasir Square (Artworks), Tyquan Benton (Isles, Inc.), and Latarsha Burke (African American Cultural Collaborative of Mercer County).
