Community Leadership Partners

This grant provides funding to nonprofit organizations in the Hampton Roads region that offer non-clinical mental health services, focusing on early intervention, peer support, and community strengthening initiatives.

Description

The Hampton Roads Community Foundation’s Community Leadership Partners are currently accepting applications for their 2025 grant program, which will fund nonprofit organizations providing non-clinical mental health services. This giving circle, composed of philanthropists across generations, was established to pool resources and collectively fund programs addressing pressing community needs. Since 2010, the Partners have awarded $3.15 million in competitive grants to strengthen the Hampton Roads region.

For the 2025 grant cycle, the funding focus is on impactful and practical non-clinical mental health services. Eligible applicants must be 501(c)(3) nonprofit public charities. Programs seeking funding must demonstrate how they provide early intervention, rapid response, and expedited access to mental health support. The grant will also prioritize efforts that offer peer support, socialization, and services that strengthen family and community ties. Importantly, this opportunity does not support clinical mental health treatment services.

The deadline to apply is April 14, 2025. Applications must clearly articulate how the program aligns with the mental health priority area and address the core components of the funding focus. Preference will be given to programs specifically and entirely focused on supporting mental health services. Interested nonprofits are encouraged to attend a virtual information session on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m., where HRCF staff will answer questions about the guidelines and application process.

Applicants may submit their proposals online. A sample application and the complete 2025 program guidelines are available through the foundation's website. In addition to the information session, nonprofits can take advantage of monthly Call-In Days held the first Thursday of each month to consult with HRCF staff.

The Community Leadership Partners granted $200,000 annually in both 2023 and 2024 to support similar non-clinical mental health programs. In 2022, the funding focused on programs supporting high-risk youth ages 16 to 24. Grantmaking decisions are made collectively by the giving circle members after reviewing applications and conducting site visits.

For more information, applicants can contact the Hampton Roads Community Foundation at (757) 622-7951 or email info@HamptonRoadsCF.org. Additional contacts include Kay Stine, Vice President for Development, and Kate Wilson, Associate Vice President for Development, both of whom are available through the same phone number.
