The City of Centennial, Colorado, offers the Neighborhood Engagement Grant to support local community-building activities. This small grant program is designed to assist residents, Homeowners Associations (HOAs), and community organizations within Centennial in hosting events that foster neighborhood engagement and strengthen social ties. Examples of eligible events include block parties, movie nights, and other inclusive social gatherings. The grant offers up to $500 per qualifying event.

Applications for the 2025 cycle opened on April 1, 2025, and will be accepted on a rolling basis until funds are exhausted. Grants are awarded first come, first serve, and applications must be submitted at least 30 days before the proposed event date. A community or organization may receive funding for a maximum of two events in the year. All events must occur within Centennial city limits and must be inclusive of local residents.

To apply, interested parties must complete an online application and include specific event details such as the date, time, and location, as well as a narrative description explaining how the event will promote community engagement, improvement, or beautification. Applicants must also provide the name and contact details of the person who will submit receipts for reimbursement. Additionally, applicants are responsible for securing necessary permits such as those for amplified sound or street closures; however, associated permit fees will be waived.

Only events that are open to the broader community are eligible. Private events and those affiliated with educational institutions, political organizations, or religious institutions do not qualify. Grant funds cannot be used to purchase alcohol or controlled substances, and only one grant may be awarded per event, even if the event is eligible in other respects.

The program is part of the city’s broader effort to enhance community connectedness and livability.
