This program provides funding to Vermont municipalities for the development of safe and convenient Park and Ride facilities to encourage carpooling and reduce vehicle emissions.

Description

The SFY 2025 Park and Ride Grant Demonstration Program aims to provide safe and convenient parking facilities to reduce single occupancy vehicles and vehicle pollutants. The program supports preliminary engineering and construction of Park and Ride lots in Vermont municipalities. Eligible applicants are Vermont municipalities that currently own the land for the proposed Park and Ride lot, with the possibility of state or privately owned land under specific conditions.

The program focuses on lots located on or near state highways, available for commuter use year-round, and maintained by the municipality. Eligible activities include creating gravel or paved surfaces, lighting, and signage. Collaboration with public transit providers is encouraged if there is an existing or planned transit route. The total funding amount appropriated for this program is $150,000.

The application deadline is August 20, 2024. Grants will not cover Right-of-Way or lease expenses.
