Pediatric Mobile Immunization Clinics in Washington
This funding opportunity supports organizations in King County, Washington, to establish mobile clinics that provide essential vaccinations to underserved children and families, particularly those who are uninsured or underinsured.
Description
The Pediatric Mobile Immunization Clinics Request for Applications (RFA) is an initiative launched by Best Starts for Kids to improve access to routine pediatric and limited adult vaccinations in King County, Washington. This effort addresses the significant decline in routine childhood vaccinations caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Through mobile immunization clinics, this program aims to serve uninsured and underinsured families, low-income communities, and historically marginalized groups, including Black/African American, Indigenous, and immigrant populations. The goal is to eliminate structural and institutional barriers such as fear of deportation, language difficulties, transportation, and technology access issues.
The program seeks applicants capable of organizing mobile clinics in partnership with schools, childcare providers, and community- and faith-based organizations. The selected applicants must host a minimum of 25 clinics annually, with a target of vaccinating at least 1,200 children per year. The project is structured into three contract years: the first from April to December 2025 (minimum 18 clinics, reaching 900 children), and the second and third years from January to December 2026 and 2027 (25 clinics annually, reaching at least 1,200 children each year).
Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations, community-based organizations, tribes and tribal organizations, for-profit entities, and public/governmental agencies serving King County. Priority will be given to applicants who have prior experience hosting mobile vaccination clinics, working with community-based partners, and serving underinsured or uninsured populations. Applicants must also be enrolled in the Washington State Childhood Vaccine Program (CVP) and be in good standing.
The available funding for this initiative is $200,000 per year from April 2025 through December 2027. Applicants should not request more than this amount per year. The application process includes several key deadlines: the final date to submit technical assistance requests and questions is February 21, 2025, and the RFA application is due by February 27, 2025, at 2:00 PM. Applications will be reviewed between March 5 and March 13, 2025, and interviews may be conducted on March 17, 2025. Notifications of selected and non-selected applicants will be sent on March 21, 2025. The anticipated contract start date is April 15, 2025.
Two information sessions are scheduled to provide further details to interested applicants: the first on January 24, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM (Pacific Time), and the second on February 13, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM (Pacific Time). Additionally, free application support is available to organizations seeking assistance with the application process. This support includes determining fit for the grant, guidance on answering application questions, and assistance with application development.
