This funding opportunity supports non-profit organizations in developing workforce programs that engage diverse groups in STEM fields to promote careers in clean energy and facilitate the transition to a sustainable energy economy.
Description
The Clean Energy Careers for All (CEC4A) grant program, funded by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), aims to support workforce development initiatives that promote diverse participation in clean energy careers. The program emphasizes engaging various groups within STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) fields to prepare a workforce capable of advancing the nation’s transition to a net-zero greenhouse gas emissions economy by 2050. Applications are due by December 13, 2024.
The grant offers funding of $100,000 to $500,000 for programming that enhances education, fosters career exposure, and builds pathways into clean energy fields. Programs should support work-based learning (such as internships or apprenticeships), career coaching, education and curriculum development, and exposure to clean energy careers. Sectors of focus include advanced materials, renewable energy, bioenergy, energy storage, and more.
Eligible applicants are domestic 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(6) nonprofit organizations that are not foreign-controlled or associated with countries of risk. Programs must serve groups such as K-12 students, undergraduates, graduates, veterans, and formerly incarcerated individuals. Entities ineligible for this grant include individuals, foreign entities, and participants in foreign government-sponsored talent recruitment programs.
Applicants are evaluated on the breadth of participants, types of support provided, engagement with industry partners, and potential for national or regional impact. Preference is given to innovative approaches and projects that can demonstrate quantifiable outcomes. Applicants should propose feasible, budget-conscious initiatives with measurable milestones and evaluation metrics.
The deadline for submission is December 13, 2024, with more details available on the DOE’s website. This opportunity supports organizations aiming to inspire and equip a diverse workforce to meet the demands of America’s clean energy transition.
